BUILDING DURING LAST MONTH. ACTIVITY IN NEW PLYMOUTH. According to figures relating to the issue of building permits about thirtylive new houses were put under way in New Plymouth during the months of October and November These new residences should be a great help in relieving the house shortage, though it will no doubt be some time before the work is completed. The value of buildings for which permits were issued in November amounted to fir),4oo, and the total for the eight months April-November (inclusive) is .■£132,075. The record month experienced during itlie period was September, in which the value of new building work in New Plymouth amounted to £34,000. The total for the eight months since the commencement of the present financial year is much higher .than in the corresponding period of 1013, when the amount was £83,700.
