The Broken Hill miners have declared beer "black" until the price of pots is reduced from, seven pence to sixpence.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. LUXURY TAXES. Sydney, Nov. 27. The Nominal Conference recommended that the National Government amusement tax be retained and a graduated tax on luxuries be imposed. THE BASIC WAGE. Sydney, Nov 27. In the. House of Representatives Mr. Tudor's basic wage amendment, was defeated by 30 to 18. Mr. Cook's addendum that the Ministry arrange an equitable wage was carried. Parliament lias adjourned to Easter. MR. MURRAY'S CASE. Sydney, Nov. 27. Professor MacTntyre, commenting on the suspension of the Rev. Mr. Murray, of Auckland, said the latter's action aiid leaching were a denial of the doctrine fif Hid Presbyterian Church. Efforts previously made to affect a peaceful settlement had proved abortive. Mr. Murray was not deposed. He could return when prepared to carry out the doctrine of the church.
