THE HARBOR.
THE RESIDENT ENGINEER. MR. LOWSON, OF DUNEDIN. Mr. W. Baxter Lowson, of Dunedin, has been appointed by the New Plymouth Harbor Board to the position'of resident engineer at Moturoa in connection with the harbor development scheme. Mr. Ijowson is at present with the Ol.ago Harbor Board, in whose icrvice he lias been for some years. He went abroad with the Expeditionary Foree, and on his return resumed his posi-Iv-n at Dunedin. Mr. Lawson will take up his dutie* in New Plymouth in January. The position carries a salary of £«<io per year. There were about a. dozen applicants. The vacancy arose through the resignation of Mr. Blair Mason, which Wat received at a meeting of the Board it October. On that occasion Mr. Mason wrote stating that after gixteei months' experience of the harbor »nc its potentialities he had come to tin conclusion that it was necessary in th« interests of the board to* appoint £ supervising engineer, who would give hii whole time to the works at Moturoa.
