McLeod, of New 'Ply-' mouth, returned home last night, after his visit to the West Coast. He was the musical adjudicator at the West Coast annual band contests held this year at (Iranity. Mr. McLeod has been asked to consider returning to the Coast next year in a similar capacity. The Otago Daily Times understands that Mr.. Richmond Dunn, of Wanganui, has been appointed supervisor at £7OO a year in eonnection with the State dentistry scheme. His special duty will be to train the "dental nurses" in an IS months' course, following which they will be remunerated at the rate of £2M\ per annum, and will be allowed to operate upon the teeth of the children attending the primary schools. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received advice from London that Mr. R. A. Holmes, formerly inspector of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., at Wellington, and who wenl Rome some IS months ago, has been appointed a member of the local hoard of directors of that company. Mr. Holmes is now on his way back from the Old Country, and is expected to reach the Dominion early in the new year. Both the Oovernor-fiencral's private secretary and A.D.C. are officers with long service in ihe war. The latter, who had been in an artillery regiment, mentioned casually in the course of conversation a rather remarkable coin- . cidence in that five years ago at Ar- I mentieres he met and became friendly with a New Zealand gunner, and now on his first visit to New Zealand he met him again and stayed with him in Chrjstchurcli.—Star.
