STRATFORD SPRING SHOW.
THIS WEEK'S FIXTURE. GOVERNOR GENERAL'S VISIT. Taranaki's leading fixture this week is the Stratford A. and P. Association's Spring Show, which will bo heid tomorrow and on Thursday. The .show this year pronvmos to eclipse all previous records as regards the number of entries and the special attractions for the public, and the fact that their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Jellicoe are to ho present on Thursday afternoon (People's Day) should ensure greater popularity for the show. Their Excellencies arc due to arrive at the showground at 1.45 p.m., and a civic reception will be tendered to them on the lawn in front of the grandstand. After the presentation of the civic address and Lord Jellicoe's reply the grand parade will take place and their Excellencies w.ill then make an inspection of the grounds before being entertained at afternoon .tea. Lord Jellicoe has intimated'that he will be pleased to accept the office of Patron of the Association, Special arrangements have been made to meet the extraordinary rush which is likely to occur at the luncheon and tea rooms, and besides the tea kiosk being extended for the occasion, light refreshments and strawberries and cream will be available at the luncheon rooms from 2, o'clock. The side-shows will be a special feature of the show, and will embrace practically everything in that line available in the Dominion. There will be circuses, buck-jumping shows, marvels of nature, freaks, hoop-las, and in fact every class of show which the public delight to find at such functions. The entries in the juvenile and industrial sections are remarkable, there being 15(5 in the junior judging competitions and 500 in the industrial section. Special preparations are being made for housing these exhibits in such a manner as to afford every facility for their ready inspection by the public. The home industries exhibits will be hous'ed in the old dog pavilion as well as the room under the grandstand, and the dogs will be housed in a large marquee. The constant arrival of side shows and stock exhibits, and the general bustle in connection with the show, has given Stratford a very animated appearance, quite in keeping with the importance of the week's attractions. Visitors from outside districts who intend staying in Stratford overnight will not be disappointed as regards entertainment for the evenings. T-w King's 'Cinema Theatre will provide good programmes on. both nights, and on Wednesday the big boxing contest, will he held, while on Thursday a first-class dance will he held in the Town Hall. The attention of intending visilnrs to the Stratford Show is directed to the special advertisement in this iyjne regarding the parking of vehicles and the production of members' tickets to the gatekeepers.
