MINERS' DEMAND.
*OR 25 PER CENT. INCREASE. By Telegraph.-Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 20. The Miners', Federation has made a demand upon the mineowners for 25 per cent, increase in rates of pay retrospective to March 1 last, the date on which the present agreement came into operation. MINE-OWNERS NOT NOTIFIED. Christchurch, Nov. 20. In connection with the statement contained in a telegram from Wellington that the Miners' Federation had' madea demand on the mine owners for a 25 per cent, increase of pay, Mr. William Rcece chairman of the Mine Owners' Association, "who arrived from Wellington thjg stated that he had seen the secretary of. the association- yesterday, and no notice had*been received then of the new demand. ■HJthe agreement Was for one year, and the owners were under the; impression that it would last for a vear.'
