THE WOOL MARKET
CLOSE OF LONDON SALES,' . MEAT CONDITIONS. Bj Tel«,papu .—J>r«sj Aasn.—Copyist. Received Nov. 22, 12.10 a.m. London, Nov. 20. The wool sales have closed. Ninety thousand bales were offered and over half were withdrawn. Best merinos were in small supply, and where taken by the Continent and the United States at considerably above the home'trade's idea of their value. Medium and average wools maintained the opening level ami closed with a slightly firmer tone. Carbonising clothing wool was erratic, and was mostly withdrawn. Crossbreds sold poorly, generally twenty to twenty-five per cent below the last sales, and were largely withdrawn owing to the high Government reserves, though bidding improved slightly towards the close. The same applies to slipcs and scoureds, the bulk of which were withdrawn, except J"E sorts, which sold at ten plr cent below October. Lambs declined ten to fifteen per cent.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. .
