ARMY OF OCCUPATION.
ANOTHER GERMAN SQUEAL. By Ttlegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Berlin, Nov. 16. Herr von Simons, Foreign Minister, speaking at Cologne, declared that the Allies' troops of occupation numbered 145,000, or .50,000 above the strength of the whole German army in January next. He said a tenth of these troops would suffice, and pointed out that the extension of the Rhine bridgeheads suggested offensive purposes. The military drill grounds were beyorfd the needs of the occupation camps. Bakeries had been established capable of turning out 400,000 daily rations. New strategic Rhine bridges had been prepared, while behind the armies of occupation large forces were stationed, suggesting that the Rhenish territory would be used as a jumping off ground for further encroachment on Germany. He declared thay would not comply with the occupation obligations until the occupation problem was settled. Economically the Entente was at present acting 1 like a creditor who gave a debtor an overseer whose salary was higher than the payments of the debtor. Herr Fehrenbach, Imperial Chancellor, in a speech at Cologne, said that while Germany intended to carry out the treaty they did not acknowledge the admission of sole guilt, which was forced on them at Versailles.—Reuter.
