AMERICAN LABOR.
AIM OF FEDERATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, Nov. 17. The executive council of the American Federation, of Labor is holding a conference with Mr. Hoover and a group of industrial engineers concerning the economic and industrial conditions in the United States, presumably for the purpose of framing a legislative programme which Congress will be urged to adopt. It is understood that the federation seeks to harmonise industry, establish co-operative shop management, and repeal existing laws regarding compulsory arbitration. It opposes the laws restricting workmen from stopping work, and also desires to restrict immigration from all parts of the world.—Au-s.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
