WATERSIDERS SUSPEND WORK, j By Telejuph.—Press Association. j Gisborne, Nov. 9. Work on the waterfront was completely suspended to-day. The demand of the men was that they should have four men in the hold of the steamer Fairburn as well as the man on the bull-rope. A meeting of the disputes committee was held yesterday afternoon. The employers intimated that they would be prepared to consider the dispute, provided the men went back to work. The watersiders representatives declined to recommend this course. This morning, no men offering for the Fairburn, the employers intimated that, until work was' resumed on that vessel, no work would be done on any other boat. The discharge of the Ripple end cargo ex the Mararoa is held up. The shipowners' committee meet this morning to consider the waterfront position, and decided to issue an ultimatum to the men that work on the Fairbairn must be resumed and the matter referred to the Disputes Committee according to the terms of the award, otherwise no labor wou'ld be engaged. I THE BONUS QUESTION, : V . Wellington, Nov. 9. The New Zealand Employers' Federation decided to ask the Arbitration Court to reconsider the bonus of 9s recently announced in Chris tchurch. If the Court agrees the application will be heard in Wellington at an early date. DEATH OF VICTIM OF TRAGEDY. Auckland, Nov. 9. Frederick Spearpoint, aged 23, who is I charged with having assaulted his mother iat Henderson, causing actual bodily harm, was before the court this morning and was remanded till Tuesday. Subsequently the death in hospital of I the victim of the tragedy was announced.
