LABOR SPORTS.

SATURDAY'S EVENTS, t The Labor Day sports and i>icnitr postponed front October 23 were held in Pukckura Park, iNow Plymouth, on Saturday, and the function was favored with pleasant weather. Athletic and cycle races wera keenly competed and some good iiuishes were witnessed. Other attractions wore an exhibition of Scottish dancing by Misses MelUe and Hue <EJli>am), who botl i proved able exponents of the an. Pipers Crawford and Rae rendered sonio pipc; selections, and members of the Citizens' Iluud under the eonduclorship of Mr. F. \\, G. MeLcod played an enjoyable piograaimo of instrumental items. For the entertainment ol' the public there were also a shooting competition, coeanut shy, sewing and nail drying competitions. A baby competition rim in conjunction with the sports produced about- rwenfy entries, and was an interesting feature of the day. Tho task of judging was carried out by Mrs. E. A. Walker.

In connect ion with the management o f the events, Mr. !{.• 13. Brabyn carried out the numerous duties of secretary, Mr. D. L. Humphries officiated as starter, and Mr. A. L. Humphries as handleapper.
