EVE OF THE CUP.
CHRISTCHURCH OVERCROWDED. MORE VISITORS THAN BEDS. By Telroraph.—Press Association. Christclmreh, Last Night. There is a possibilty that some" visitors to the city will be walking the streets to-night looking for beds, as the shortage of accommodation is worse this Cup time than for years pa«t. The hotels are overcrowded, 'and the boardinghouses arc in very short supply. A labor shortage, quite temporary of course, complicates the situation. The proprietor of one big private establishment said they had seven houses available, and they' were all full. A double number could have been accommodated, and applications were being refused daily. It appeared to be the biggest rush for a very long time. The real difficulty was labor to handle the guests. Servants played up at such times and it was possible to replace them only at exorbitant rates. Chefs were unprocurable.
