FALLACY OF ITS POWER,

CRIPPLING INDUSTRY.

If T«lifr»ph.—Prut AMa.<-Cojyrlitt. Received Nov. 5, 8.10 pjn. London, Nov. 5. Mr. .Winston Churchill, in a speech, itateft that the Labor Party's talk ibout direct action had deeply offendid most British people. There was, he said, a growing feeling that a considerable section of or(tailed Labor was trying to tyrannise aw the whole public, and trying to JuHy them into submission, not by irgtunut, but by brute force. Labor ras thua impeding the arrival of proswrity, and hampering the scientific )rogrets 'of industry, and 'so reducing ;he value of the wages of the working dasiM. Trade Unions must review the josition during the next few years if they were going to preserve the inluence which they hitherto exercised >n British industrial life. Mr.. Churchill said one of the deep rooted fallacies of the Socialist wm J*e belief that the more violent the thange the better it was. From that Ulusion came the terrifying fear which Men Labor leader felt, that he might be pushed out of the way by some fount; and ignorant irresponsible who would go one better than the trusted eader. The fact that so many Labor eaders were challenging the constitution was proof that the majority of '.heir fellow countrymen were not on iuir aide.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
