YESTERDAY'S SITTING. A sitting of Ae Magistrate's Court. New Plymouth, was held yesterday, Mr. T. A. B. Bailty, S.M., presiding. BY-LAW CASES. For driving a car round Eliot Street corner on the wrong side of the road, C. J. Harris was fined 10s and costs 7s. The evidence was that, the car was twentyfive feet from the centre of the road on the wrong side, and a collision nearly took place between Inspector Hay (who was coming down Devon Street! and Harris. Fines of 10s and costs 17s (id wer? imposed in the eases of I. Goodwin and Leslie Payne, for allowing horses to be at large. Mr. R. 11. Quilliam appeared for the Comity Council. REGISTERING A MOTOR CAR. A motor car oVncr, E. King, who, though having his car registered continued to use the number of the garage from which the machine was purchased, was summoned on a charge of illegally using a motor car without having fixed thereon a registration number under the Act. Mr. R. H. Quilliam appeared for the informant (Inspector Tippins), and Mr. C. 11. Croker appeared for defendant.

It was held thai a garage number was merely a form of identification, and could not be regarded as registration. Further, its use was restricted to dealers in nfitor cars. A fine of 10s, costs ill Ss, was imposed.
