There was not a particle of truth ill such a statement. He traced the history of the Bill and the history of the amendment, which was put in by the Legislative Council. That amendment liad been referred to a carefully selected committee of the House, and they reported on it. That being done, bi» duty was to see that the House had a fair opportunity of expressing an opinion on it. He was not making it a party question, and h# had not endeavored to inthienre a single member lie only hoped that the House would express an opinion that night, as lie wanted to get on with other important business. At the same time, Mr. Masscy Raid he now saw no hope of finishing the work of file session this week, because he was not going to rush legislation.
