Fearitig the nature of liis illness, Mrs. Morris promptly communicated with the police authorities, and inquiries throughout New Zealand failed to locate him. Anxiety on the Part of his wife prompted advertising and communication with the Australian authorities, but all to no elTecf. The disappearance, despite all ellorts, remained a mystery until a few days ago. when his wife, .Airs. Ettie .Morris, who stilly carries on the jewellery business, received a letter from a brother of Mr. Morris, informing her of the death of her husband on September 29 last, which occurred at the Military Hospital, Cauliield, near Melbourne, after two months' illness. It appears that Mr. Morrifi volunteered with the Australian Imperial Forces in July, If> 1 going with the Cth Lattalion, and did service for the remaining portion of {lie great war.
