OP3ENING OF THE SEASON,. KORTH TAItANAKI PLAY. The Thursday cricket, competition iu North Taranki opened yesterday. Tiic New Plymouth Club representatives jouneyed to Inglewoodj where they met defeat by tho local dub by 72 runs. At Tlkurangl, the Urenui and Tikorangl teams met, but tho result of this watch was not available in New Plymouth last night. NEW PLYMOUTH v. IXGLEWOOD. Inglewood secured 120 runs against their opponents' 48. Sutherland (4.1), and Partidge (29), were the principal scorers. New Plymouth's most 9ucces9ful bowlers were Dinniss, three wickets for 34 runs, and Waller 7 for 48. In {he visitors' total, Waller (17), and Woollett (13) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
