There are violent differences of opinion between the moderates and the extremists, particularly in South Wales, where Mr. Vernor Hartshorn yesterday resigned from the Miners' Federation owing to the attacks of extremists, though he was later persuaded to withdraw his resignation, The moderate leaders are emphasising the fact that the strike fund will be exhausted if the men vote in favor of the strike. The first ballots indicate that the men will agree to a settlement—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
