AEROPLANE COMING.

FLIGHT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. No definite date has been given for the arrival of the first aeroplane in New Plymouth, but it is stated the flight will be from Woodville, not Palmerston North, to New Plymouth. As announced in the Daily News a few mornings ago, this flight is to be made by Captain Russell, D.F.G, Croix de Guerre, in an Avro machine. The latest movements of Captain Russell are that on Wednesday he made a rapid non-stop flight from Napier to Masterton in pouring rain, accompanied/ by a high, following wind. The Avro left Napier at 10.40 a.m. The weather was fairly good to Dannevirke, but heavy rain was experienced to the Masterton side of the Tararuas. The aeroplane? arrived at Masterton at 12, o'clock, the distance of 125 miles, airline, being thus covered in 1 hour 20 minutes, at the rate of 07J miles per hour. The Avro will leave Masterton at the beginning of next week for Levin and Palmorston North for the spring show, thence to New Plymouth from Woodville. The machine is due back at Wellington about the middle of Novenn ber.

Captain Russell hag now achieved a fine record, having flown from Auckland to Wellington, Wellington to. Wanganui, thence to Hastings, and from there to Masterton.
