M. Clemcnceau is at present visiting the Dutch East Indies (says a cable from Melbourne). In declining an invitation from Mr. Hughes to extend his trip to Australia, M. Clemcnceau said he hoped to visit Australia next year. The death took place on Saturday of Mr. Jarnob' J. Boyle, of Wanganui. He was well known formerly as printing foreman of thy> Herald when it was under the proprietorship of the Hon. John Hallance, and later on as manager of the Marton Mercury. He took an active part in the foundation of the Cosmopolitan Club, Wanganui, of which he was a life member, and in the old volunteering days was a keen and enthusiastic member of the Wanganui City Rifles, in which lie held the rank of color-sergeant.—Chronicle. The death is announced of Mr. Douglas Oonper Tenneitt, of Wanganui. The late Mr. Tcnnent arrived in New Zealand by the sailing ship British Empire in 18ii.'l, and was for many years connected with Robert Levin and Co., of Nelson. lie proceeded to Marton in 18S-2, and was in business there for over 30 years, lie tool; a great interest in nninieiptil alfairs. and held office as Mayor for a time. He was one of the founders of the Marton Howling Club, mid was Government land valuer for Rangitikei for many years. He was also manager of the Rangitikei Building Society. He retired from business in 1907, and was interested in farming from then till the time of his death. He was well known in bowling circles, anif was 69 years of age.
