LOAN PROPOSALS.
APPROVED AT VOGELTOWN. The loan proposals to be placed before New Plymouth ratepayers noxt week were discussed at a meeting of ratepayers at Vogeltown last night, the meeting being held under the auspices of the Vogeltown Progressive Association. Mr. G. W. Browne, chairman of the Association, presided over a <?ood attendance. ° _ After discussion, a resolution was earned unanimously in support of the pro. .posal to borrow £22,500 for new tram CT.rs, etc., and in support of the proposal to borrow £27,300 for trackless trams to Vogeltown and Westown. Speakers stressed the necessity of both loans being carried in order to keep pace with the progress of New Plymouth. au§ everyone was urged to exercise their franchise.
OPPOSED BY FRANKLEY. The monthly meeting of the Frankley Road Settlers' Association was held on Tuesday evening, when there was a large attendance. A resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the able and instructive address recently delivered by Mr. Woods, Government veterinary surgeon, at the request of the Association. The committee reported that the Honors' Board to be erected at the Sunday School in memory of those who left Frankleigh Park and sacrificed their lives on active service, would soon be finished. -The matter of the borough loan proposals was discussed, and it was decided to vote afifliuit all the loan grojosals.
