The award under which members of , the Wellington Saddlers' Union are working will expire at the end of the present month, and the Union has formulated fresh demands. A conference took place this week between representatives of the men and the employers, but no agreement was arrived at, and it is understood that the proceedings were of a very stormy nature. Considerable dissatisfaction with the turn events have taken exists in the lanks of the Union, and members intend to hold a meeting to decide whether they shall proceed further with the matter under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, or cancel their registration, and take further action mder the Labor Disputes Investigation Act. Bodies registered under the Labor Dispute* Investigation Act possess the light to strike by giving fourteen day;' notice (after conferences with the employers have proved abortive) of their intention to cease work.
