At yesterday's luncheon Mr. JO. Maxwell mentioned that ha had boon a member of the Harbor Hoard for a period of 27 years.

The Health Department notified the Taranaki Hospital Board yesterday that the latest available figures of population and valuation made representation of contributory local authorities as follows: Clifton County, Inglewood County, anil Waitara and Inglewood combined boroughs one representative each; Egmont and Taranaki Counties, two each, and New Plymouth Borough three. The Taranaki Hospital Board at its meeting yesterday decided to open correspondence, with the Health Department pointing out that in the opinion of the Board, a St. Helen's Hospital was required in Xew Plymouth. The chairman, who brought forward the resolution, pointed out that there were such institutions in the four chief centres and at Gisbome and Invereargill, and he thought the time had arrived when there should be one in New Plymouth. The resolution was seconded by Mr. Campbell, and carried unanimously.
