New York, Oct. 12. American and Canadian racing circles await with the keenest interest the race between Man o' AVar and Sir Barton at Windsor (Ontario) to-morrow, which, it is believed, will be the greatest match in the history of the American turf. The distance will be one yiile and a quarter. Man o' War is a chestnut three-year-old and will carry 1201b. He is owned by tin American, Sahi Riddle. Sir Barton is a four-year-cild cheefnut i.wned by a Canadian, Commander J. K. Rous, and will carry 1201b. Besides a 75,000 dollars purse, a gold cap valued at 5000 dollars will be presented to the winner.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Oct. 13, 8.50 p.m. Ottawa, Oct. 12. A message from Windsor (Ontario) states Man o' War won by seven lengths. Time, i 2.3.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") Good fields are carded for all events at tlie Masurton spring meeting, which opens .Jit Opakl to-day. In the Trial Stakes, five furlongs, smart horses like Duncdin, Melting Moments, and Kildee appear. Mill o' Gowrie may be the better of the Kemball pair in -.he Jumpers' Flat Handicap,-1% miles, arid of the others Fisher is as well handicappec as anything.. Tire Flying Handicap, six furlongs, • l\is attracted a fine crowd. Kymestra if caught in a good mood, would bo a harci horse to beat, but quick beginners like Asti- • nome and Jutland may have to be reckoned : with. The Lawn Handicap, one anile, is ani other heat in which M.r Kemball appears to hold a strong hand. The contestants have to be ridden- by apprentices, and with• . out whip or spurs. Probably a free goer like Misb- Maid would show to advantage under t'.if-se circumstances. Eleven good ones re- • main in the Masterton Cup, miles, laj eluding the NVw Zealand Cup candidates Bonnie Maid, Tepterfleld, Johnny Walker, Bonnie Heather, Moutoa Ivanova, and Esper- | ance. As the race carries a penalty for the New Zealand Cup punters may look elsewhere | for the winner, and on Wanganui form Boanetter will probably, he heavily supported. Dainty Step and Moutoa Ivanova will also, carry big money, their running at Oialri proving that they are very fit at present. Bitters and Ngata appear to be nicely placer, in tho Lansdowne Handicap, six furlongs. The flrs;-named is said to be very smart. More New Zealand Cup horses, Vagabond, Nobleman, and Athens 11,, appear in tic Grandstand Handicap, one mile, but this event entai'.s no penalty at Rlccarton. Jf Nobleman has a chance in the New Zealand Cup his owner will expect him to run prominently to day. I To-day's programme concludes with the Farewell Handicap, five furlongs, and the field Includes smart ones like Bonnie Briar and Canyon.
