PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the committee of the local branch of the above society took place on Monday, Mrs. Burgess being in the chair. , The secretary read reports from the ear committee and from the treasurer. The nurse's report was read as follows: —New cases, 0; visits to homes, 174; adults to rooms, 208;' ba))ies to rooms, 193; letters, 1. Correspondence was read from the Central Council, informing the branch societies that Plunket nurses' salaries had been increased from £l5O to £2OS per annum, and that the Government subsidy for each Plunket nurse had been increased from £IOO to £125 per annum. Resignations were read from Mrs. Roebuck, who has left the town, and from Miss Wade, who is going to the Old Country for a long holiday. The committee asked Miss Wade to take a year's ieave of absence, and to resume her seat on the committee on her return. This Miss Wade kindly promised to do. The secretary was also instructed to thank Mrs. Roebuck for her lively interest in the work of the society whilst she had been a committee member, and also to write and ask Mrs. Home if she would kindly accept office on the committee. A letter was read from Mrs. Quilliam, accepting a position on the committee. The President then welcomed Mrs. Bayliss, who was present, as a member of the committee, and said that it was hoped to get into touch with many more mother through the influence of Mrs. Bayliss, the wife of the commanding officer of the New Plymouth branch of the Salvation Army. It was decided that the nurses' hours should be as advertised on the doors of the Plunket Rooms. Mothers coming in from the country on Saturday mornings will now have an opportunity of seeing the nurse from 11 till 12 noon. Demonstrations showing how to make humanised milk will he given monthly at the Plunket Rooms. The first wiil be on Saturday next, October 10th, at 3 p.m., to which all mothers interested are invited. The arrangements for the Baby Fete, to he held at Kawaroa Park on November ISth, are well in hand. The next sewing meeting for making baby clothes will •be held in the Plunket Rooms on October 20th, at 2 p.m. All ladies interested in the work of the Society are asked to attend these meetings. There will be plenty of work for all. The committee wish to acknowledge with thanks the following subscriptions: —Mrs. R.
