In the absence of Mr. Hine, Mr. Ogle was voted to the chairMr. Roy, the Board's solicitor, advised that as the Board owned the foreshore as far as the Waihi stream on the north, and up to the Waiongona stream on the south, it consequently controlled the shingle deposits within those boundaries. It was resolved to inform the Clifton County Council that the foreshore north is the-property of the Board as; far as the Waihi stream, and that boulders or shiugle cannot be removed without a permit from the Board, and are liable to royalty for the license. Reference was made to the desirability of improving the river ' entrance, and the question of the -utility of the south wall was again discussed. It was stated there was some difference of opinion amongst those who understood

the various influences at work at the river mouth, and in any case to rebuild the wall would probably run into thousands of pounds. The secretary reported that repairs to the north wall were being attended to.
