TRAIIS TO-DAYj OAS SOON LOSS OP GOAL BY STRIKES. . By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The prospects for a resumption of ths city gas supply are much brighter than towards the end of last N week. The President of the Board of Trade baa arranged for as much coal as possible to bo released for the company from cargoes due here this week. A total of <">9oo tons is expected from Newcastle, and the Westport Company will receive 800 tons. The Newcaitle coal it expected to-morrow night. The loss of coal to the community through the WaiUato strike is 31,000 tons, as follows: Huntly and Rotowaro (idle twenty working days), 20,000 tons; Pukcmiro (idle twenty-eight days), 14,000 to::s. The trams will resume running in the morning, lmt their continuance is de« pendent on regular supplies of coal.
