For good classes of greasy competition was keener, and ttey sold to 34% d; poorer sorts were neglected; there was no demand for seoureds, which were withdrawn. • Most of the wool so far offered in Sydney from the western and north-western districts Is of indifferent quality, disclosing the effects of the late drought. The bidding indicated a tendency among many buyers to hold back and watch the market. The fact that large stocks of tie previous year's clip remain unsold in Eißland Iras apparently operated to keep bidding down, except for the best kinds. Australian buyers operated freely; English, American, and French were less active. The Japanese Held off. At the second day's sale poor classes showed about 10 per cent, decrease compared with the opening sale. Brisbane, Oct. 7. The wool sales have been postponed for a week, LONDON TALLOW SALES. London, Oct. G. At the tallow sales, 1847 casks were offered and 1510 sold. There was a strong demand for gaible lots at 2s to 53 advance, others par to Is advance.
