| _ GUARANTEES FOR ENGLISH VISIT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Oct. 4. Guarantees for tire visit of the English amateur cricket team have been secured, and a cable has been sent to the Marylebone Club asking If thirteen players can be' sett, touring from the end of December to the end of February, with the option c-4 playing three matches in Aiujtrswa or remainins three months in New Zealand. PRIMARY SCHOOLS' COMPETITION. MEETING OK TEACHERS. Sel'ool cricket was discussed at a niceties of New Plymouth teachers held last evenng, There were present: Messrs. Stratford (chairman), Kountree, O. Johnson, Evans McllrM', and N. Day. ' It was resolved to institute a compjUlluri amorg primary, schools, and that the follow ing be invited to compete: Central, West End, Hoys' High School (preparatory), Fitzroy, and Convent. An executive consisting of Messrs. Stratford, Evans, and Day (secretary), was appointed. The meeting decided that the Education board be approached for a monetary grant to assist the competition. The opening day for the competition was nxed as October 10; two rounds to be played, one prior to Christmas and one after 'the holidays. Games are to be limited to a period of 2% hours.
