ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. ChrMchurch, September 28. At the Addington market to-day the yarding was the smallest of the season for both fat sheep and cattle, and values improved for beef by about 20s per head. There was also a slight improvement in mutton values. Store stock showed little change in price. Store Sheep: A larger entry than usual. Hoggets and wethers, were in weaker demand, but several pens of ewes wltb lambs made high prices. Two-tooth ewes and lambs (all counted) realised to 265; sound and failingmouth ewes and lambs (all counted) 23s Od to 245; inferior six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb, 275; m.s. hoggets, 24s Od to 28s; good halfbred wether hoggels, 31s 6d; ewe hoggets, 31s 3d; cull hoggets, 17s 3d; two, four, six, and eight-tooth wethers, 32s lid to 33s 9d; four and six-tooth wethers, 31a to 37s Bd. Fat Sheep: Only six races were penned—less than butchers' requirements. The sale was irregular, but generally prices were a shade ahead of last week. Extra prime wethers, 44s to 53s 6d; alodium wethers, 39s Od to 43s (Id j light and unfinished wethers, 31s 4d to 38s Gd; extra prime ewes, 54s 6d; prime ewes,_4os Cd to 455; medium ewes, 31s Gil to 38s Od; light and inferior ewes, 27s 6(1 to 30s 6d; hoggets, 29s 8d to 535. Eleven spring lambs sold at 3Gs to 42s Cd. Fat, Cattle: A small yarding of 214 head, the bulk being prime. The market was Arm, values being a shade better than last week! Extra prime steers, £33 to £36 10s; prime steers, £27 5s to £32 10s; medium steers, £2l to £26 15s; light and unfinished steers, £ls to £l9 las; prime heifers, £l7 to £2O 15s; ordinary heifers,'£l3 10s to £l6 15s; extra prime cows, £26 ss; prime cows, £l9 to £23; ordinary cows, £l4 IDs to £lB 10s; light and inferior cows, £lO to £l3 15s, Vealers: ltunners, to £9 17s Cd; ' good vealere, £7 17s Cd; medium calves, £4 2s 6d. Store Cattle: A small entry of rather inferior quality. The demand was poor. Threeyear steers, to £l2 17s; two-year steers, £8 10s; inferior cowb, £7; mixed-sex yearlings, Fat Tigs: A keen demand, with prices in favor of vendors. Choppers, £8 to £l4 ss-bat-oners, £7 153 to £9; extra heavy banners, £9 5s to £ll Cs (average prices per ib., Is 3d to Is 3&d); porkers, £4 15s to £5 10s; heavy porkers, £5 15s to £« i(i S ( average prices per lb, Is 4%d to Is !>%d). Store Pigs: A keen demand, especially for weaners, which brought to £2 15s. Small slores realised £2 16s; medium stores,. £3 to £4 9s; large stores, £ 510s. LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Industries has received the following cablegram, dated September 25 irom the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : "Meat.—English supplies larger; trade dull; prices slightly easier. Average prices are: Keof, Is 4d; muttoif. Is 9>4d; lamb Is 10%0 • Imported, meat forms 78 per cent.'of Smithfleld supplies, as against 40 per cent, last year, and 62 per cent, in 1914. Imported meat m good demand; no change In pnee "Butter.—Free butter in' very small supply and dearer. Average price English' is £22 2s 6d; Irish quoted at £22 15s to £23 5s for finest. "Cheese.— Demand for English very quiet at £8 16s, £9 6s; Canadian spot, market quiet and steady at, white £B, £8 2s; colored'£B -s, £8 6s; quotations c i.f. lower at £S "Hemp—Manila market opened steady demand improved later, and good business' has heen done at firm prices. "J" grade, .TuneAugust to September-November shipments sold at £69; October-December shipment Quoted at £69 10s. New Zealand market inactive. Sellers quote high-points "pot £56 fair £54; August-October shipment, £54 and £sl respectively. "Wool—Sales continue; slow demand, confined to better sorts. Medium and lower descriptions largely withdrawn." THE TALLOW MARKET. The N.Z.
