By Telegraph.—Press Association, j Christchurch, Last Night. following are the winners of tlio first round of the ladies' golf championship of New Zealand:—Miss Wright (Tlmaru), Mrs. Williams (Masterton), Miss McCarthy (St. Clair), Miss McCormiek (Auckland), Mrs. Robinson (Ctristchurch), Miss Moore (Palmerston North), Miss Moore (Hokitika), Miss Bell (Wellington), Miss Humphries (Christcliurdi). KIRKWOOD AT PALMERSTON. BEATEN BY THE BEST BALL. Palmerston North, Last Night. J. H. Ktrkwood played an exhibition match with Clements (professional) and> A. Ekstedt (amateur) to-day, four hundred spectators following. * The Australian went round in 73, but vfts beaten by ilio best ball of 72 by one up. Clements went round in 77, and Kkstedt 76. At one stage the local players rang on six throe in succession, Ekstedt haling twice from outside. Kirkwood's score was composed of nine fours, four fives, three threes, a six, and a two.
