'London, Sept. 27. At the wool sales about half the catalogue was sold. Merinos and greasy crossbreds were unchanged, low crossbreds being withdrawn and scoureds selling well. Bradford business has not improved and quotations are irregular. CANTERBURY GRAIN MARKET. Chrißtehm'ch, Sept. 28. The grain trade lias not been so quiet for many mouths as It is at present, and any business occurring is mostly in small lines. Particularly is this the case in regard to oats, the market for which during the past week has been practically stationary. Seed, wheat for resowiug was in request after lost week's downpour. The present fall of tfain on some localities, where the newly-sown lands were already water-logged, will add further to the damage, besides rendering sowing at this late period doubtful wisdom. There are earlier sown districts where ihe previous rain is reported to have done good rusher ttsu harm. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantllo Agency Co. Ltd. (Stratford) repoTt as follows : » We had a fair yarding at our Tarata sale on the 24th inst. with good attendance. Dairy Stock offered was not in good- condition. All stock offered of good quality sold well. Prices realised were: Fat ewes 37s Id, 4-tooth wethers 32s Bd, yearlings, small, heifers, £3 12s, steers £1 18s, 2-year steers £7 10s, 2year in-c«lf heifers £8 to £9 12s Od, 3-year £9 10s to £ls 10s, heifers and calves, Jerseys £l4 to £l7 10s. Private Sales.—A good many dairy cows and heifers are required, also empty heifers, yearling steers and heifers.
