REV. A. A. MURRAY'S CASE.
ACTION BY PRESBYTERY. REFERENCE TO ASSEMBLY. The case of the Rev. A. A. Murray, minister of St. Andrew's Church, .was, again before the Auckland', Presbytery tliis week. At the last meeting Mr. A. \V. Campbell handed in a complaint against the presbytery in connection with the matter. Replies to the reason! given,by Mr. Campbell were read by th< Rev. I. Jolly. During the reading of the replies Mfi Murray interrupted, saying: "I rise t« a point of order." The Rev. 'Geo. Budd: What is the point of order t •Mr. Murray said Mr. Jolly had inv. pugned his honesty. The moderator, the Rev. J. Pattison, ruled that Mr. Jolly should proceed. Later Mr. Murray said he had sol failed to do anything he had been asked to do by his congregation. Mr. Budd: Thie is altogether iarreh>< vant. Mr. Murray said eight baptisms Kad taken place at St Andrew's Church during the past twelve months. Mr Jolly: But there have been nontf since December. % Mr. Murray said the reason was that he had not been asked to perform anjj baptisms. Mr. Campbell said Mr. Jolly had "gond round" the questions and had not) answered some. As long as any con» gregation did not object, to a, minister the Presbytery should think well before separating that minister, from the congregation. Mr. Jolly said the minister was res« ponsible to the presbytery, not to hl< congregation. It was decided to forward the cony plaint and answers to the assembly.
