Charteris, of Glasgow University, wag appointed to the new Chair of International Law at the Sydney University, and Professor Mills has been aopointed 'Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The Labor Council rejected, by 52 Votes to 44, the Trades Hall sabotage proposal. Melbourne, Sept. 17. Mr. Higga, who, since his expulsion by the Lah,or Party, has been sitting as an Independent Parliamentarian, has joined the National Party. In the Federal House, Sir Joseph Cook announced that £IOO,OOO had been placed on the estimates to assist in deceloping immigration to Australia. If it was found that more could be spent usefully, more would be provided.
