An unverified report from Hons' Kong via Peking states that anti-militarist forces under General Chan Ching Ming raptured Waiehow and are attempting to restore Canton as the seat of the constitutional Government- of China. The damage is estimated at only two million francs. Despite the pleadings of Mr. Samuel Gompers and members of the Socialist Party, the 'United States Federal Attor-ney-General (Mr. Palmer) refused to . sanction a general proclamation grant- ' ing an amnesty to political prisoners declaring that ,the Government would deal with each case idividually. He pointed out that only 174 offenders were still imprisoned, while 180 already had been released. At Chicago, the Federal Court of Justine reaffirmed the sentence passed on Jack Johnson, who recently returned to the United States and gave himself up to the law, in 1013, namely, one year in prison and a fine of 1000 dollars, for violation of the Mann Law, which forbids inter-State transportation of a woman for immoral purposes.
