PRODUCE TRADE.

EXPORTS TO BRISTOL. NEW STORES OPENED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 16, 5.20 p.m. London, Sept. 15. Mr. A. Fisher, Sir James Alien, and the Agente-General, journeyed to Bristol for the purpose of inspecting a new cold store, costing > £150,000, with a capacity for 200,000 carcases, erected to meet the demand of the growing directtrade between Bristol and Australasia. The docks committee entertained, the visitors at luncheon. The chairman pointed out that ten million people within a radius of one hundred miles of Bristol would provide a market for Australasian produce. The recent doubling of railway freights handicapped overland transport from the London docks, and correspondingly favored Bristol. Mr. Fisher and Sir James Allen stated that Australasia was extremely anxious to encourage direct trade with British coastal ports for the purpose of facilitating the distribution of produce.— Aus.-'X.Z.
