CLASHING SHOW DATES. At the meeting of the General Committee 01 the above Association at Haweru yesterday, a letter was read from the New Plymouth A. and r. Association explaining that the committee had jumped their show dates without consulting them, and statins that ihey proposed to adhere to their old" dates. Mr. Gillanders said lie was averse to doing anything serious to their nearest neighbours especially if tht-y had any moral claim to tile dates Hawera iiajl taken. Mr. Middletou agreed -with this view, and said that New Plymouth was of more importance to them than Masterton. The secretary pointed out that tlie.v obtained a large number of entries from' Masterton. It was suggested by a member that New Plymouth should take February 24 and 25 leaving Hawera to adhere to the dates already fixed; but it was pointed out that there were a number of race meetings in lebruary. Mr. Mitchell moved that the president, vicepresident, and Messrs. Tonks and Gillanders be a committee to interview the New Plymouth Association with a view to making, if possible, arrangements suitable to both. The motion was seconded by Mr. Walsh and carned.
