CAMBRIDGE HORSE FAIR. i The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co. report as follows: Last week no held our annual spring fair at Cambridge and offered 1100 horses or all classes. As was anticipated, the demand for , draught animals was very strong and competition was well sustained till the conclusion of the sale, a record being established. Buyers were present from all parts of the North Island, and many of the best animals were transferred to their districts. Unbroken horses sold under keen competition up to £.ifi for heavy animals, medium sorts £34. Tile advertised draft of light spring cart horses (roiu Gisbome were eagerly sought after and made up to £2B. The draught section (broken) about 050 in number embraced a very choice collection, most of tho prominent breeders in the Waikato having something to represent them. Competition was very spirited, and only a small proportion of the offering failed to And purchasers. Trices for heavy draughts ranged from £45 to GO 10, the latter figure being obtained by Mr. Ceo. Johnston, of Matamta, for a five-year-old Galatea-bred gelding. Quite a large number of animals reached prices between £SO and £6O, and not a few over the latter figure. Medium draughts olso sold very freely at values between £35 and £4O. Lighter sorts £25 upwards. Harness horses and hacks sold at satisfactory rates for anything useful. A brown gelding of the Ribbonwood strain realised £sl. a draught of very handy sorts from Mr. James Taylor were much fancied and drew good bidding. Good harness classes ranged between £25 and £3O Good hacks up to £2O 10s. There was the usual proportion of weeds, and ill conditioned sorts, which in cnneral claimed little attention. Amongst tlm special entries were two chestnuts by (juin Abbey, bred by tho late Mr. E. Potts, One, gelding, dam Jessie Gra«iam, realised 51 guineas, the other, a mare from Silver Star, sold at 45 guineas. Both animals were purchased by Mr. ,T. c. Potts.
