REPAIRS TO CAR. ■ Reserrod dfisisU® givey at the riaawtraieV. Ocmrt by SLv. T. A. B. Bailey, BJVi, la the am to vs>.L<sh 3:'. V. Buiitstt (Mr, R. Tyrtr) alaisnw iVom Mrs. Paul Stachursicl (Mr, 0. H. Oroker) the sum oi £3O 57s for repairs to defendant's motor-cast; and on a counter-claim brough? by the defendant against the plaintiff for «. turn of £IOB for the use of the car while it was in the plaintiff's possession. The case was heard ou August 27'. The Magistrate said that regarding the claim the defendant stated that the price agreed upon for tho repairs was £2O, but the plaintiff annied this agreement. There seemed no doubt that the amount of £2O was mentioned, although the plaintiff stated that that amount was for labor only. If Mr. Burkett'eevidence was true, the account rendered to the defendant certainly did not show the coat of labor at £2O. Judgment would therefore be entered for the plaintiff on the claim for £2O, and as this amount was paid into court the defendant would be allowed costs.

The counter-claim, said the Magistrate, was a claim for £(! a week for the hire of the car for a period of about six months. The evidence could only be described as extraordinary. A man had got a car for the purposo of repairing it, and it had teen actually proved that on two days at least he had used that car for hire. The plaintiff had even taken out a license to hire that particular car. "I've never heard of such a thing before," added his Worship. "It is very difficult to decide what amount to allow as damages. There seems no doubt that the car had been used as a taxi sufficiently often to wear out a pair of tyres. The plaintiff's action was very extraordinary. His Worship gave judgment for the defendant on the counter-claim for £3O and costs. ' STRATPORiD LICENSING COMMITTEE. The quarterly meeting of the Stratford Licensing Committee was held today.
