Uood demand (or fine beet tallow. ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. Chrlstchurch, Sept. 8, At' the Addington market, tho yarding today was larger in both fat cattle and fat sheep, and there was a slight easing in values. Store sheep met with good inquiry, as also did both fat and store pigs, and particularly dairy cat.tlo, but store cattle were a drug. Store Sheep.—A good yarding and active j inquiry for sheep, that promise well for I shearing values being a shade better than j lost week. Two-tooth ewes in lamb 32s : 3d to 39s Dd, good six ant! eight-tooth ewes in lamb 39s 9d to 42s 3d, inferior soundmouthed ewes 25s Gd to 27s fid, aged ewes In lamb to 265, good two and four-tooth wethers 32s 9d to 365, four and six-tooth wethers to 375, good half-bred owe hoggets 32s lOd to 33s 6d, ordinary ewe hoggets 27s Gel to 29s Id, good half-bred wether hoggets 27s 6d to 28b 7d, cull wether hoggets 23s lOd. Fat Sheep.—-There "was a yttrding of. ten races, compared with seven last week, and values went down a shade except for extra prime and graziers sorts. Extra prime wethers 50s to 69a 9d, prime wethers 40s to 4Ss, medium wether> 36s to 39s 6d, light and unfinished wethers 31s 4d to 35s Sd, prime ewes 36s 6d to 455, medium ewes 27s 2d to 355, hoggets 29s' lOd to 36s 3d. Fat Cattle —A big yarding and values were easier, a number of lines being passed. Extra prime steers brought up to £34 10s, prime steers £26 to £3O, medium steers £l6 15s In £25, light and unfinished steers £lO to £l6, prime heifers £l6 10s to £l9 6d, ordinary heifers £ll to £ls 17s 6d, ordinary cows £ll 15s to £l6, light, and Inferior cows £lO to £ll 10s. Store Caßtle,—An inferior quality yarding, and a dragging sale. Two and a half year! heifers sold to £7 18s 6d,' 2%-year steers to £9, empty cows £8 to £5. Voalers.—The yarding comprised principally newly-dropped calves. Runners brought £9 10s and good vealers £7 10s. Dairy Cattle.—A good quality yarding and a strong sale for all cws near profit. Good second and third calvers brought from £l* Us to £25 15s, ordinary second and third calvers £l6 to £l9, two-year-old springing heifers to £B. Fat Pigs.—A small entry and values were something of a record, some pork selling as Irish as U 6d a lb. on the hook. Choppers £B■ to £lO 14s, baconers £ 6 10s to £ 7 16s, heavy baconers £8 to £9, extra !(ea,\>y baconers £lO 7s, average price per lb. Is l%d lo Is 2d. Porkers £4 10s to £5 ss, heavy porkers £5 10s to £6 7s, average price per lb. 13' Ad to Is 4d. Store Pigs.—Extra keen damand. Best stores £4 15s to £5, medium £3 15s to £4 8s Id, weaners 25s for vory small and 54s for extra good. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE.
Dunedin, Sept. 7. The fat sheep department at Burnsido was cot so well supplied as usual to-day, with the result that a sharp increase in values took place. The fat cattle department, on the other hand, was well supplied, and the quality on the whole was of a high standard. Prices, however, were a little weaker. Pigs met with an exceedingly lively sale, and the lilgli rates lately ruling were more than maintained. The store cattle market showed ilgns of the coming spring. Buyers admitted thr.'t the spring grass was coming away, and on the strength of this wero prepared to pay higher prices for supplies. . Fat Cattle. —A large yarding of excellent quality,' a total of 248 head being offered for sale. The demand was somewhat slack U Ithe opening of the sale, and several pens were passed in unsold. Later, more animation was manifested, ami competition was good at prices about 10s a head lower than last week's rates. Prime bullocks realised from £24 to £3O 15s, medium £l9 to £23, light and unfinished sorts from £l!> 10s upwards. Prime heifers realised from £lB (o £2l 10s, medium £ls to £l7, light and aged from £lO 10s upwards. Store Cattle—A moderate yarding. The duality on the whole was a distinct improvement on late yardlngs. Buyers wero prepared to give better prices for cattle showing breeding and condition, and were more eager to secure supplies. The values realised were from 5s to 7s Gd a head above late rates. Sheep.—A small yarding, numbering 1614 bead, composed mostly of medium quality, with only a small percentage of good sheep. Owing to the small number offered, competition was very keen at the opening of the sale, and prices showed an advance of 4s a head, but as 'the sale progressed prices weakened somewhat. The closing rates showed an advance of about 2s a head above last week's rates. Prime wethers realised from 52s 9d. to 81s, modlum 36s lo 31s, light and unfinished sorts 35s upwards. Prime ewes realised 43s to 47s 3d. medium 37s 6d to 425, light and aged from 30s upwards. Pigs—A fair yarding, which met with a very buoyant sale. Prices were very high, and, if anything, higher than the extreme rites lately ruling. Bc3t baconers realised ftom Is o%d to Is 2d per lb., and best porkers from Is 2'id to Is 2Yii per lb.
