TRAINING MORE TEACHERS.
TO REDUCE SIZE OF CLASSES. (By Wire. —Parliamentary Reporter ) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Parr said to-day, that when til? new scheme of salaries was brought forward a pupil teacher would be on practically the same level as other entrants into the public service, The department was preparing to attract, if possible, at least a thousand yflung men and women by next year to the various training colleges in the Dominion. That would be nearly three times as many as the average. He hoped that in a year's time, by giving an intensive course of training to many of these people, the department would be able to redttco large classes, so tha't there should be one teacher to 35 or 40 pupils.
