NATIONAL ENDOWMENT LAND.
AN INTERESTING RETURN. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. The annual report of the lands und Burtey' Department concerning national endowment land*, which was tabled today,' states that as anticipated in last yearY report tie area of 9,000,000 acres provided for under the Land Act, 1908, as a national- endowment for education and fcld. age pensions, has now been reached, the approximate area in the ' endowment at the end of the year under .review batag 9,018,686" acres. •Of this an area of 7,042,630 acres was heW on lease or license, subdivided into 4389' holdings, and providing an annual rental «f■ 5130.223. The total revenue tro& time lands was £\MfiU. The area of land sold for cash amounted to 9967 acres in 253 separate lots, and the priea realised was £34£l». revenue from all sources totalled £1,661,291, whitfh is a record JW>the department, and a considerable advance on the amount collected for the previous Jrear.
