A cable from London states that Archbishop Redwood sails for New Zealand on the Taimii. Mr. George Falla, who has been 41 years in the Railway Department, is resigning as stationniaster at Auckland. Mr. Falla is one of the oldest railway officials; he retires at the end of this year, Mr. Harry Skeen, well known as one of the earliest, prospectors of Ohinetfiuri goldflelds, is dend. Mr. Skeen, who was 72 years of age, left Thames district 40 years ago to follow up prospecting at Waitekauri, where he owned a claim, and he remained in that district for 25 years. He worked his claim alone, and packed quartz on horseback to Thames for treatment. An old colonist and veteran, Mr, William Dalton Bush, passed away at Auckland, aged 91. He was on his way to the Crimean Wr when trouble in Australia broke out, and he was sent there. Later he came to New Zealand, and fought in the many Maori wars in Taranaki and Waikato. He was colorsergeant in the 12th Regiment, and later was paymaster-sergeant for many years in the army. He passed through five reigns of Kings and Queens, viz., George IV., William IV., Queen Victoria, Edward VII., and George V. A Press Association telegram from Chris telmrch reports the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Cossgrove, Chief Commissioner of Boy Scouts in New Zealand. He held several appointments under the Otago Education Board, and in 1890 became headmaster of the Baiapoi Native School He was associated with volunteering for many years, and went to South Africa with the 6th and 10th Contingents, being paymaster of the latter. Subsequently he became identified with the Boy Scout movement, and much of its advancement was due to his energy and enthusiasm.
