In the morning, in tho championship, Abraham heat ,T. S. Paton (New Plymouth), 8 up and C, and Seymour heat A. Smith (New Plymouth*, 4 up .and 3. In the afternoon, Powdrell beat AhMham,: 2 up andl; Harold heat G. Saunders, 2 up and 1; Meldrum bout I. Saunders, 3 up and 2; Seymour beat.Hussoy, 2 up and 1. The bogey match was' won by G. Beven with 5 up. Abraham was 3up and I. Austin, 2 up. In the medal match, .T. Austin won with a score, of 59—14—75 net. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A medal handicap will lie played at Walwakalho to-morrow for players not engaged In tho championship. On tho first day at Wanganui, Imlay Saunders came dut' at the top of the list in the qualifying rounds, with steady rounds of 8?, and 79, which gave him a total of 102. Jack Coss came next with 1115. He took S9 for tiie morning round, but recovered in (he aflernpon with n brilliant 70. G033 was driving a very long ball, as will be judged from the fact that he used % a mashie for his second shot at the first hole, and- did "Long Tom" in 4. It appeared as if he was going to lower Arthur Duncan's record of 73 for tho course, but his putting, which has troubled him recently, let him down at the last three greens. There were some surprises during the day, and not- a few reputations went by the board. Por instance, Gudgeon, who won the New Plymouth championship early in the season, failed to qualify 92 and 94 being the best he could do.
