ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE "DIGGERS." In view of the popularity which the programme staged by the "Diggers" in New Plymouth hud earned, it was not surprising that this company were farewefled by a crowded audience at the Empire Theatre last night on the occasion of their final appearance. The performances of Donald Stuart, Stan Lawson, and Tano Fama, backed up by the company, were again very heartily received. Tiie musical items by Messrs Proctor, Bosher, and Walker were highly enjoyable, and the audience's appreciation was fully demonstrated. The again had the support of their tine orchestra, and some very entertaining selections were rendered. > THE PEOPLE'S.' TOM MIX IN "THE CYCLONE," ALSO TRACKLESS TROLLEY CARS. Apart from the big dramatic entertainment contained in the current Fox double programme at the People's, presenting Tom Mix in "The Cyclone," and Peggy" Hjyland in "Cowardice Court," there is a picture of undoubted topical interest to all New Plyjnouth residents. This most interesting film shows some very fine views of the trackless overhead trolley cars, such as are suggested for our own suburban services, in actual running. How they would work out here can quite easily be deduced after a scrutiny of their operations \ii> the pictures. More roomy than the present electric 'bus, and more resembling one of our present cars on rubber tyjes, tlicy appear very business-like, and not at all like what many of us have hitherto imagined. This film shows finally to-night at the People's, commencing at 7.'45. and po resident who cares to be up-to-date in his knowledge should miss this unique opportunity of knowing what he votes for if he votes for trackless ears.
