The Provincial Executive of the Fanners' Union wrote with reference to the proposal to establish a demonstration farm at Mokoia for the benefit of the district, and asking for the Council's support to the following resolution: — "That the Minister of Agriculture bo urged to grant the use of Section 534, Paten. District, for the purpose of the establishment of a. demonstration farm, to be run on similar lines 'to those at Mavjiia and Stratford. Cr. Hawken said the unfortunate part j of the matter was that the land in question was the poorest in the district. He believed that it would be better to make a start'on average land,instead of such poor land. The land was in a splendid but it was a pity it was so poor. Be would, support the resolution because he did net think there was any other land available for the purpose. GENERAL. A deputation, consisting of Messrs. Buckler, Riley and Lee, -.waited on the ' Council, and asked that the Xgawhine Road be metalled for a distance of about 20 chains, and also that some grading be done.--lt was decided to put the work in hand as early as possible. ■ Two settlers from the Austin Road. Messrs. Nicholson aind Palmer, waited on the Council and asked if the Council could grade the road and also drain a bad portion where water frequently collected.—The Council decided to inspect the road and see what could be done in the matter Mr. C. Chard wrote resigning his position as ranger to the council.—The resignation was received, and it was reported that fresh applications had already' been invited for the position.
