CARDIFF. SCHOOL CONCERT. t (From a Correspondent) What might justly be termed the most successful concert and dance held in the Cardiff schoolroom for several years took pjace 011 Thursday evening last. Despite the most unfavorable weather conditions the residents turned out ill full force to support the School Committee in their efforts to bring about considerable improvements in the school grounds. The programme consisted of seventeen items by the children, and concluded with a very amusing farce, "The Doctor's Mistake," by the Cardiff Comedy Company. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the fun, though at times they were slightly horrified by serious operations. Perhaps the most popular item of the evening was a duet by two "tiny tots." The hoop drill and dancing by the girls, and the wand drill hy the boys, were well applauded. The chairman, in the course of liis remarks, stated that he would take the opport>mity to thank all present for their patronage. 111 continuing, he remarked: "I think it is very gratifying to the oonimittee to see so many present and to remember the fine manner in which the two previous functions were attended. As many of you here to-nigl*t will remember, several years ago our school grounds were a credit, not only to the school, but also to the district. Since that time, owing to lack of interest, the grounds have gone back and hack, until now they are a wilderness and a disgrace to the school, which now stands in the most cheerless surroundings. When Mr. T. Boyle, our present master, took charge, he soon showed his disapproval of fern grown about his neck. His first request to the committee was for improvement to the (•rounds. So we recognised that we could not do better than join with the ' teacher and bring about an improvement. This is the third function held for that purpose, and I am pleased to say that we have now sufficient funds in hand to commence, and a contract to plough a portion of the ground is now let."
