THE KHALIFAT AGITATION, By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Delhi, August 2. Khalifat agitators have been busy lately on the Indian frontier, anil antiBritish propaganda, together with intrigues the frontier tribes, caused a serious, outbreak at Jalgali, ill the North-West Provinces. The town was attacked by tribesmen and a notorious agitator attempted to form a ai Government. A British column set out from Peshawar. Although threatened by large armed crowds, it brought the ringleaders of the outbreak to Peshawar, The Black Mountain tribes have now joined the rebels, and military measures are being taken.—Aus.-X.Z. Cable Assn. BRITISH OFFICER MURDERED. Delhi, Sept. 2. Captain Salmond, of the Devon Regiment, and assistant Political Officer at Kifri, who wiis taken prisoner last week, has been murdered by tribesmen.—Renter,
