He qualified as a surgeon, but soon found more attraction in politics, and when he lost his seat ;n the House of Commons on a petition, he went to South Africa. Here he became Rhodes' confidential agent, went into Parliament there, and became one of the chief members of the Progressive Party in Cape Colony. Mr. Harris was 64.]
