The final of tho Manawatu Golf Club's championship, over 3U holes, resulted in a win for Kapl Tareha (Napier), who beat J. Gl3ss (Wanganui), j up and 4 & play. » In the morning round, Tareha, with 79 to Goss's 80, was 1 up. •In the afternoon, Tareha played brilliantly to the twelfth hole, where he was one under fours and dormy six. Goss's long game was phenomenal. He out-drove his doughty opponent time after time, but bis short work and his putting were weak. Tareha went to pieces at the thirteenth, where he was putting for five and loolt seven, but- he took the next in ftur to Goss's five, and won the, match, conofudlng the round in 715. Goss, who lost an eye in the war, showed marked improvement as the tournament proceeded, and will be heard of at Hamilton. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Club's championships will be continued this afternoon. Tho ladies will play a medal match on Tuesday afternoon, players to choose their opponents.
